Speculation around the ongoing legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni intensified after reports revealed a new request from Lively’s legal team. The lawsuit, which features the star and director of It Ends with Us, Justin Baldoni, continues to attract major media attention. While the legal battle seems far from over, now finances are at the center of the courtroom drama.
Blake Lively’s legal team reportedly requests Justin Baldoni’s financial records
Blake Lively’s attorneys have formally requested access to Justin Baldoni’s full financial records.
According to TMZ, this comes amid their defense against Baldoni’s $400 million defamation suit. The lawsuit names Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her longtime publicist Leslie Sloane as defendants. The financial records in question allegedly tie directly to the damages Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, claim to have suffered.
Lively’s legal team submitted the request to a judge. They argued that Baldoni’s side only presented “non-privileged documents” related to the damages during prior discussions. They insist Baldoni must provide unrestricted access to his finances to justify the massive monetary demand.
This major update in the Justin Baldoni lawsuit came on the heels of a surprising move by Baldoni’s legal team: subpoenaing Taylor Swift. They claim that Swift was indirectly involved in production discussions through her friendship with Lively and Reynolds. Swift reportedly allowed her song “My Tears Ricochet” to appear in It Ends With Us. However, sources close to Swift previously stated that she had no formal role in the film’s creation. The source also claims that Swift did not watch the movie prior to its release.
“Taylor has always been Blake’s friend, but Taylor doesn’t have any involvement in the case, an insider shared with Us Weekly. “She wasn’t part of the movie. Taylor was not a producer on the film and had no creative involvement,” the insider further said.
The legal feud between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni began in December 2024. Lively filed a lawsuit accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment on the set of It Ends with Us. She also alleged emotional abuse during the filmmaking process. Baldoni denied the accusations and, in January 2025, filed a countersuit for defamation. He claimed that Lively meant to ruin his reputation and damage his business. The high-stakes trial is scheduled for March 9, 2026.
