The new Superman trailer gave fans a sneak peek at Metamorpho‘s powers as he was seen creating Kryptonite in it. Metamorpho is one of the characters fans are quite eager to see in the upcoming movie. However, whether he is portrayed as a hero or villain by director James Gunn is unclear. Created by Bob Haney and Ramona Fradon, Metamorpho made his comic book debut in 1965 in The Brave and the Bold #57.
DC fans spot Metamorpho creating Kryptonite to weaken Superman in new trailer
Superman fans took notice of Metamorpho utilizing his powers to the full extent in the new trailer. Metamorpho, played by Anthony Carrigan, is seen sharing a high-tech cell with Superman, which is presumably under the control of Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor.
While the armoured guards try to subdue Clark Kent, Metamorpho is seen sitting with his hand changing into green Kryptonite, allegedly to weaken the superhero. Thus, the particular scene suggests that Metamorpho might be involved in Luther’s metahuman agenda.
This has led to a wide range of reactions from fans. A user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “LEX LUTHOR IS MAKING METAMORPHO TRANSFORM HIS HAND INTO KRYPTONITE TO WEAKEN SUPERMAN. THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO BE AMAZING.”
Another user shared an image of Metamorpho creating Kryptonite in an animated show and wrote, “Metamorpho is converting his arm into Kryptonite to subdue Superman.”
User @axel compared the scene to Luthor obtaining Kryptonite from the Indian Ocean in Batman Vs Superman and stated, “Using metamorpho to create kryptonite is much cooler than coincidentally finding it somewhere out in the indian ocean.”
A fan further complimented the idea of having Metamorpho create Kryptonite and wrote, “My favorite part of the new #Superman trailer, this right here. This is smart. This is comic book thinking. I’ve said it a thousand times, Metamorpho is a deadly opponent for Superman. Turning his hand into Krytonite is ?a tactic he would use.”
Metamorpho has a unique power, which he got after being exposed to a meteorite containing the Orb of Ra. In the comics, the character can reshape his body and transform into any element of the periodic table.
