Nouvelle Vague Teaser Trailer: Zoey Deutch Stars in School of Rock Director’s New Movie

ARP Sélection has shared the official Nouvelle Vague teaser trailer for the upcoming French comedy drama, which hails from School of Rock director Richard Linklater. The movie recently had its world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, which will be followed by its theatrical release on October 8, 2025.

“This is the story of Godard making Breathless, told in the style and spirit in which Godard made Breathless,” reads the synopsis.

Who is in the Nouvelle Vague teaser trailer?

The video introduces its main cast, including Zoey Deutch (Not Okay) as Jean Seberg and Guillaume Marbeck (La vie d’avant) as Jean-Luc Godard. This marks Deutch’s latest collaboration with Linklater after previously working together in the 1980s-set comedy Everybody Wants Some!!. The ensemble cast also includes Aubry Dullin as Jean-Paul Belmondo, Bruno Dreyfürst as Georges de Beauregard, Benjamin Clery as Pierre Rissient, Matthieu Penchinat as Raoul Coutard, Adrien Rouyard as François Truffaut, Jodie Ruth-Forest as Suzanne Schiffman, and more.

Nouvelle Vague is directed by Linklater from a screenplay written by Vince Palmo, Michèle Halberstadt, Laetitia Masson, and Holly Gent. The movie is a dramatization of the behind-the-scenes story of how acclaimed French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard became one of the pioneers for French New Wave cinema with the making of his 1960 crime drama movie Breathless. It is executive produced by Emmanuel Montamat and John Sloss, with Laurent Pétin and Michèle Pétin serving as producers. The creative team also incudes cinematographer David Chambille and editor Catherine Schwartz.
