Blake Lively’s representative has spoken out strongly after Taylor Swift was dragged into a legal battle between Lively and actor-director Justin Baldoni. The latest development in the escalating case around the film It Ends With Us has led to backlash, especially following Baldoni’s move to subpoena Swift, despite her limited involvement in the project.
Blake Lively’s rep reacts to Taylor Swift subpoena
Blake Lively’s rep has strongly criticized It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni for dragging Taylor Swift into their legal dispute. The backlash comes after Baldoni’s legal team subpoenaed Swift, demanding her testimony in the $400 million lawsuit he filed against Lively earlier.
In a statement to E! News, Lively’s rep condemned the move, saying, “This is a very serious legal matter, not Barnum & Bailey’s Circus.” They accused Baldoni’s team of attempting to turn the lawsuit into tabloid fodder by involving high-profile celebrities.
“The defendants continue to publicly intimidate, bully, shame, and attack women’s rights and reputations,” the statement continued. The rep also called out Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, for suggesting that testimonies could be turned into a public spectacle, joking about selling tickets to a deposition.
Previously, Swift’s team had firmly denied any major role in the film, clarifying that her only contribution was allowing the use of her song “My Tears Ricochet.” “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie. She was not involved in any casting or creative decisions,” her rep told the outlet. They dismissed the subpoena as a “tabloid clickbait” move meant to exploit Swift’s fame rather than address the actual legal issues.
Baldoni, however, claims that both Swift and Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, influenced creative decisions. His lawsuit includes alleged messages where Lively referred to them as her “dragons,” which is a reference to Game of Thrones, implying they backed her in disputes over the film. As the legal battle escalates, Lively’s camp insists the focus should remain on the facts rather than celebrity drama.
