Law & Order Season 25 & SVU Season 27 Renewed by NBC

NBC has renewed its popular long-running shows Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU) for Season 25 and 27, respectively. The legal dramas are two of the most popular shows in the United States among viewers. Law & Order made its debut on TV in 1990 on NBC, and its first spin-off, Special Victims Unit, has been running since 1999.

NBC’s Law & Order and SVU get renewed for new seasons

According to a report by NBC News, the network has renewed its two biggest shows, Law & Order and its spin-off Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, for the 2025-2026 season. Law & Order is all set to get its 25th season, and Special Victims Unit will get its 27th season.

The finale of Season 24 of Law & Order and of Season 26 of Special Victims Unit will air on May 15, 2025. So, fans won’t have to wait much longer as their next seasons will arrive soon. The decision to renew these two shows was made by NBC after they witnessed immense growth in viewership for them.

After airing on Peacock for many years, Law & Order has witnessed a surge of 112% season after season. On the other hand, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has managed to register a growth of 5% on the streaming service. Based on the numbers obtained from the NBC network and Peacock, both shows have registered over 44 million users in the current season.

Created by Dick Wolf, the Law & Order shows are one of the oldest franchises at NBC. Apart from the original Law & Order and Special Victims Unit, there is another spin-off of the legal drama called Law & Order: Organized Crime, which currently entered its fifth season on the streaming service, Peacock.

As of now, NBC has not revealed the release date windows for the new seasons of these Law & Order shows.
