After announcing itself to the anime world in emphatic fashion last year, the Kaiju No. 8 franchise is now returning for a sequel installment, with Production IG recently confirming the release date for Season 2. The series officially announced the much-awaited update on social media, while also giving fans a look at a brand new poster.
Crunchyroll to begin streaming Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 in July
As conveyed by the official social media handle of Kaiju No. 8, the sequel season of the hit series will premiere worldwide on July 19, 2025.
As per the post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the follow-up edition to the 2024 anime will hit the small screens on the said date at 11:30 PM JST (Japan Standard Time). Just like its predecessor, Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 will make its debut in Japan at the same release date and time as other countries, with episodes coming out on both X as well as Crunchyroll.
Apart from confirming Kaiju No. 8 Season 2’s release date, the aforementioned X post also highlighted a new one-sheet for the sequel installment. The poster featured Kafka Hibino at the center, with Isao Shinomiya, the Director General of the Special Defense Force, taking a formidable stance behind him. Meanwhile, Kikoru and Narumi Gen also appear on the vibrant poster, taking place on either side of the lead character.
Meanwhile, a special extra episode, titled “Hoshina’s Day Off,” which will focus on the story of Third Division Vice-Captain Soshiro Hoshina, is on track to come out on July 5. While it will also receive a simultaneous premiere across the globe on X, similar to Kaiju No. 8 Season 1 and 2, it remains unknown if the spin-off episode will also air on Crunchyroll.
In addition to the original voice cast, Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 will see Koki Uchiyama make his debut in the franchise as the First Division Captain, Gen Harumi.
